The Mona Lisa's smile may always remain a mystery, but it is now possible to hear what her voice would have sounded like, thanks to a Japanese acoustics expert.
Dr Matsumi Suzuki, who generally uses his skills to help with criminal investigations, measured the face and hands of Leonardo da Vinci's famous 16th century portrait to estimate her height and create a model of her skull.
"Once we have that, we can create a voice very similar to that of the person concerned," Suzuki told Reuters in an interview at his Tokyo office last week. "We have recreated the voices of a lot of famous people that were very close to the real thing and have been used in film dubbing."
You can listen to Monalisa voice here
http://promotion.msn.co.jp/davinci/voice.htmp/s: I think the voice really suits the character. As for Monalisa herself, her identity still shrouded in mystery, may be it is one of Leonardo Da Vinci code?

while browsing through the net i found a breaking news for ubuntu-users out there. Here' s a glimpse of the news and for more of this breaking news you can click the link below :)

"Even though Solaris will always hold the inside track when it comes to supporting features on the Sparc chip architecture, Sun Microsystems knows that it has to take an extremely open approach to its hardware and software if it wants to become a true volume player in the server racket. And that is why the company is enthusiastic about getting Linux ported to its new "Niagara" Sparc T1 processors.
But, as you might expect, Sun is not as interested in helping rival operating system platform providers Red Hat and Novell make money with their Linuxes as it is in convincing other Linux providers to support their distros on the T1s, thereby taking a whack at the X64 server vendors and the two main Linux platform providers and the Windows platform from Microsoft all at the same time. Think of it as hitting a triple play, since any sale of a non-X64, non-Windows platform does, in some way, weaken Microsoft. This might be the reason why Jonathan Schwartz, Sun's new chief executive officer, has been talking up the Ubuntu variant of the Debian line of Linux in recent weeks. Canonical, which releases Ubuntu 6.06 Long Term Support Server Edition on June 1, is also interested in getting some press around its efforts to move from Debian desktops to data centers and departmental servers. Today is my anniversary. One special day for me and my wife. Well for her I just sent Ten (10) Gerberas, or African Daisies, in this lovely round Hand Bouquet. Include a big box of Ferrero Rocher Chocolates (T24 300g). Complete with statice, peacocks, other fillers , papers, & ribbons to her at her office. A small favour (with money of coz) from
blooming do help a lot. A small surprises besides the XOXO and Guess handbags. Well perhaps both of us will have some nice dinner either at gazeebo or at Sri Hartamas. :D. Hopefully both of us will stay together for the rest of our life. Insya Allah :D
Sape tengok match aritu? Overall IMO, the standard of malaysian football never reached the passion of its citizen. Sometimes I think MyTeam played better football (given the duration of their training and get together). But one thing for sure, the keeper (amir) is full of crap. I dunno how the hell he became a goalkeeper. He is too slow for his reaction and damn, his positioning is damned poor. Both of Malaysian team's goals resulting from his poor positioning. I was a goalkeeper as well even tho only to the state level for my school (and played for my college as well- we never conceded a goal for 3 damn years that consists of 3 tournaments). Well it seems like he is lack of passion. What an embarrasment. This 30 years old fella can play better lah. :D. One player stands out, not that Myteams goalscorer (I think and believe that it was a fluke) but the 2nd half winger, mr Fairus. He's nimble and played his football with brain. Good byline run, good cross, good setup (during the last minute that smacked the crossbar) and good stamina as well. My hats off to him.

MySpace has made it to the headlines once again, with two teenagers having allegedly hacked the Web site and extorted money from operators.
Reports claim that Shaun Harrison (18), and Saverio Mondelli (19), both computer programmers, hacked into the MySpace Web site, stole personal information from MySpace users, and threatened to distribute a foolproof method of stealing information unless they were paid an amount of $150,000.
The teenagers were later arrested by two police men, who under the guise of MySpace employees, went to Los Angeles to pick up the payoff. Each of the two arrested were charged with illegal computer access and attempt of extortion. They have now been released on bail, but if convicted, stand to face four years of imprisonment.
According to the prosecutors in this case, Harrison and Mondelli were operating a similarly named Website, which is now defunct, and took advantage of the vulnerabilities on MySpace, thereby gaining access to users' personal information.
MySpace discovered the hack earlier this year, created a patch to block it, and sent a cease-and-desist letter to the hackers. The hackers allegedly threatened to distribute the unbreakable code, unless MySpace paid-up the ransom money. So finally the company approached the Electronic Crimes Task Force, who decided to set up a sting operation to catch hold of the hackers.

I can't believe my eyes when I read that Malaysia also has its own Playboy mag. The magazine was distributed and sold openly in Kelantan where it was priced at RM2.80 (less than a dollar USD).
However it seems that the magazine is only a cheap knock-out of the real Playboy magazine since it created much attention in Indonesia. Early investigation revealed that the magazine used a fake Publishing Permit, and the magazine has been a seller since it was 'introduced' in local store.
p/s: It seems that Malaysian is capable of everything, including producing pr0n knockout magazines. I'm proud to be Malaysian!

Applying for job?
I know that it is hard to find a well paid job these days. Job hunting has turned into an art in this modern era, right from finding the job advertisements, applying and attending the interviews.
The problem with employments
It would seems that academic qualification alone is no longer suffice to impress your future employer. There a lot of people that able to impress future employers, particularly
PHB, by using sleazy social engineering skills, thick make-ups, and made-up accent. Doing the job correctly is of course another matter.
Cover letters
However, there are some honest applicants who still use the old fashioned
cover-up cover letter. The trouble is, how do you write a proper cover letter? Is is as simple as a
dear john letter? How are you going to word it? What should you put in the cover-letter?
Fear not, here's a collection of cover-letter examples exclusively featured here for #fakap blog readers. We wish that you are able to score a well paid job after this!

"People have to treat instant messaging as they have been taught to treat e-mail -- with suspicion -- and not open suspicious attachments," said Natalie Lambert, an analyst at Forrester Research. "We have to start applying what we have learned with e-mail to these other applications."
There is a new worm making the rounds, targeting the popular Yahoo Messenger application with the purpose of hijacking PCs and installing malicious software on them.
Experts at FaceTime Security Labs discovered the worm two weeks ago using a "honeypot" trap set up to monitor the activity of viruses, Trojans, and other malicious software.
The worm, dubbed Yh032.explr, marks the first time that researchers have encountered malicious software that installs its own Web browser on a PC without the user's permission.
"This is one of [the] oddest and more insidious pieces of malware we have encountered in years," said Tyler Wells, senior director of research at FaceTime. "This is the first instance of a complete Web browser hijack without the user's awareness. Rogue browsers seem to be the hot new thing among hackers."

A worm running through Yahoo's instant messaging network is installing a browser of its own -- a first for IM malware -- that leads users to adware and spyware sites, several security firms said Monday.
The worm, dubbed "Yhoo32.explr" by IM security vendor FaceTime Communications on Friday and "Browaf" by Symantec on Monday, is installed when Yahoo users click on a malicious link embedded within an instant message.
Yhoo32.explr downloads and installed the so-called "Safety Browser," which adds an IE-like icon to the desktop, and when used, takes the unsuspecting to sites where their PCs are infected with adware and spyware. The worm also changes the home page of IE to point to Safety Browser's site.
To complicate things, Safety Browser doesn't post an Uninstall option in Windows' Add or Remove Programs Control Panel applet.
"This is one of oddest and more insidious pieces of malware we have encountered in years," said Tyler Wells, senior director of research at FaceTime, in a statement.
"This is the first instance of a complete web browser hijack without the user's awareness. Similar 'rogue' browsers, such as 'Yapbrowser', have demonstrated the potential for serious damage by directing end-users to potentially illegal or illicit material. 'Rogue' browsers seem to be the hot new thing among hackers."
Along with the bogus browser, the worm makes the PC blare out screeching music thick with bad guitar licks and drum solos. The headache-inducing noise plays every time the computer boots or Safety Browser launches.
Anti-virus vendors, such as Symantec, are working on signatures to detect the new Yahoo IM worm; FaceTime said that has already it updated its customers' software.

Linux Kernel "snmp_trap_decode()" Remote Memory Corruption Vulnerability
Remotely Exploitable : Yes
Locally Exploitable : Yes
Release Date : 2006-05-22
A vulnerability has been identified in Linux Kernel, which could be exploited by remote attackers to cause a denial of service. This flaw is due to a memory corruption error in the "snmp_trap_decode()" [ipv4/netfilter/ip_nat_snmp_basic.c] function when allocating the ID and the address, which could be exploited by remote attackers to crash a vulnerable system where the "ip_nat_snmp_basic" module is loaded and traffic on port 161 or 162 is NATed.

I wrote this because there are some people who still does not understand what's "Reciprocal Link" means. After doing some thinking, I decided to write this post trying to explain the meaning of reciprocal link to you.
What is Reciprocal Link ?
Reciprocal link is a link back to this website (
http://blog.fakap.net). If you want to participate in the link exchange program with this website, you need to provide a reciprocal link to this website (a link to
http://blog.fakap.net).
What is the URL for Reciprocal Link ?
The URL for reciprocal link is the url of a webpage that contains the reciprocal link.
For example, if you put the link to
http://blog.fakap.net in http://yourowndomain.com/links, then the URL for reciprocal link is http://yourowndomain.com/links, it is just as simple as that.
Summary :
the URL for reciprocal link is the url of your webpage which contains a link back to http://blog.fakap.netI want to participate in the link exchange !
That's great, better get started now! Go to the
links page of blog fakap.
Hello everybody,
I've some good news for all of you. I've planned to include few functionalities for #fakap blog including "Printer Friendly Page", "Feedback", "Tell your friend" and Automatic "Link Exchange".
Seems that so far I've able to integrate the automatic Link Exchange script, which allows users to add their own link to #fakap blog links page.
Hopefully I could speed up my progress after i can get my pc
up and running again. See you soon!

Hello there,
As the title said, my pc cum workstation has just died and its RAM failed. I'm going to shop for a new motherboard and RAM in the next few days to replace the parts. I think I'm going to shop for 512MB of RAM and plus a motherboard with a built in LAN on the way.
For the mean time, the planned R&D and service upgrades on blog fakap will be halted or at least delayed until I could manage to bring my pc alive again. Please be patient :)
Well I just want to quote from
mr fyodor detailed paper on
os fingerprinting"A worse possibility is someone scanning 500,000 hosts in advance to see what OS is running and what ports are open. Then when someone posts (say) a root hole in Sun's comsat daemon, our little cracker could grep his list for 'UDP/512' and 'Solaris 2.6' and he immediately has pages and pages of rootable boxes. It should be noted that this is SCRIPT KIDDIE behavior. You have demonstrated no skill and nobody is even remotely impressed that you were able to find some vulnerable .edu that had not patched the hole in time. Also, people will be even
less impressed if you use your newfound access to deface the department's web site with a self-aggrandizing rant about how damn good you are and how stupid the sysadmins must be."
Well I believe we have lots of these i-am-the-great kiddies in our own country. Well if u can read this (and understand) please channel your creativity into good purpose. Or perhaps if someone ask you what kind of tools needed for passive fingerprinting, dun answer nmap... So next time RTFM!!! and learn more.
p/s: next time dun brag about owning a Solaris box but dunno how to change your working dir or asking where the hell is gcc?? And dun ask me who the hell is Fyodor
This is from dan@pathology.washington.edu to bugtraq related to gmail/gtalk webclient DOS
Gmail/Gtalk web client DoS
Summary
It is trivial to freeze the browser of a known user who is currently using Gmail with the Gtalk feature enabled. This could lead to a denial of service attack against any user of Gmail who is using the web client.
Technical Details
Gtalk within Gmail converts some incoming emoticons into animated gifs. Sending a large quantity at once will cause the recipient's browser to lock up until the message is fully converted. With relatively few (100) emoticons, you can freeze a browser for a few minutes. Larger quantities, or multiple messages could extend this time indefinitely. If the Gmail web client is used to send the message, the sender's browser will also lock up.
The standalone Google Talk client for Windows does not suffer from this problem, and is the easiest way to send the messages to a target. In theory, any properly configured Jabber client could be used. Conceivably, modified Jabber clients could be configured to run a widespread DoS attack against active Gmail users at a low cost to the attacker, since the message size is small and requires little bandwidth.
Known Affected Browsers:
Firefox 1.5.0.3
Internet Explorer 6.0
Internet Explorer 7.0 Beta 2
Seamonkey 1.0
Known Unaffected Browsers:
Safari 1.3.2
Any browser which the Gtalk client does not run in will be unaffected.
Workaround
Disabling the Gtalk feature while using Gmail will protect a user, at the cost of the ability to chat.

According to studies conducted, it is found that web readers usually will read website content in F-shaped pattern. The pattern is better illustrated by the heatmap below.
This particular study was conducted on 232 web users looked at thousands of web pages. It is found that the results of reading behavior was fairly consistent across many different sites and tasks
With this discovery, it is advised that websites should be designed with this pattern in mind in order to effectively convey important information to web users.

Well basically those are the main objectives of a/an attacker/hacker/cracker(name it whatever u want but not script kiddies). Minimize signals here doesn't exclusively means that u lower down ur digital signals (that prolly a stupid move/things to do), what I mean here is how stealthy u are in launching ur attack :D
Stealth? Well that's a subjective matter right? For me, stealth in sense of how much indications and warnings that will be generated by your actions when penetrating any networks which I assume have appropriate defence mechanism ie firewall, IDS, IPS etc. Well I have one example situation that perhaps can be a good point to think/argue/debate/discuss etc.
Recently i've detected few connections from one of my clients to one particular server which is not in this country.
Myclient :52330 ----> outside server:443
Myclient :52325 ----> outside server:443
Myclient :52328 ----> outside server:443
And one of the traffic generates this alert from my IDS : ATTACK-RESPONSES id check returned
root
with the payload : uid = 0 root.
It seems like that the traffic is normal but :
a). When I check the targeted server, (just grab the http header)
HTTP/1.1 200 OK

Server: Apache/1.3.33 (Debian GNU/Linux) PHP/4.3.10-16

ETag: "e460f-170e-409a7cf3"
Accept-Ranges: bytes
Content-Length: 5902
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html
There's no ssl mod installed/loaded or whatsoever. It means that port 443 is not used for SSL connection. Hmm, perhaps used for other apps? I wonder..
This is header for site that have ssl enabled/installed/loaded
HTTP/1.1 302 Found
Date: Wed, 17 May 2006 21:02:59 GMT
Server: Apache/1.3.34 (Unix) mod_python/2.7.11 Python/2.3.4 mod_ssl/2.8.25 OpenSSL/0.9.8a PHP/4.4.2 mod_perl/1.29 FrontPage/5.0.2.2510
X-Powered-By: PHP/4.4.2
location: forum.php
Content-Type: text/html
Then if it's for SSL(even tho not possible based on the info gathered), why the hell the payload is in plain text? Well ssl meant for secure socket layer and suppose to be encrypted?
Most of my SAs argue that it's false positive and normal traffic. Even one of them think that the user of my client is accessing his/her mysql(?!) database with uid root. Well that's out of Q. False positive because of the ports and the traffic is legitimate. Is it? So what do u guys think?

Whilelist browsing through the net , i stumble upon an interesting articel that is "Porn Producer Vivid to Allow Download And DVD Burning".

Once again, the porn industry thrusts first, and boldly, into unexplored technological territory. Where Hollywood has been afraid to allow people to download movies, their younger, but more profitable brother down in the valley have been quite open to it.

The flicks aren’t without their own copy protection. Burned DVDs will not use CSS, but another protection that will prevent them from being copied one more time
